Getting Your Iris Show Ready – with Mountains and Plains Iris Society

If you have never brought iris stalks to the show or are interested in entering in one of our new iris show divisions, come learn all about what to expect and how to participate in the Mountains and Plains Iris Society Show on June 4, 2023, at Tagawa Gardens.

4pm-Presenting for the Show – Lindy Doty

Come learn how to select, cut, groom and place your iris stalks for the show.  Lindy Doty has been growing and judging iris for 50 years. She has won our “Queen of Show” for the last two years.  Lindy has been a faithful MPIS Member since its founding serving as President, Show Chair and on the AIS Region 20 board.

4:30-Iris Photography – Brian Molitoris

How do you extend your Iris season? Take pictures, that way you can enjoy them all year round. One of our newest members and accomplished photographer, Brian Molitoris, will be giving technology free tips and advice for skilled beginner to advanced amateurs, on how to capture that perfect photo to enter it in our show. Brian has been a professional photographer and instructor for 30 years.

5pm-Artistic Design – Julia Duggan

Learn how to design and present an iris arrangement for an AIS sanctioned show.  Julia Duggan will discuss the seven basic design principles, give a critique and demonstration.  Julia has been a horticulturist since 1982, specializing in perennials.  She is an avid iris grower and a past president of MPIS.
