Mountains & Plains Iris Society Classes on Aisle 3

The Mountains & Plains Iris Society is two public classes that are free to attend.  (Aisle 3)

Iris Culture: The Do’s and Don’ts of a Versatile Garden Perennial – 10:30 am- 11:30 am

Irises are a hardy, drought-tolerant, deer-resistant perennial that comes in an array of sizes and colors. From the early blooming diminutive
bulbous I reticulata to the beloved bearded iris of grandma’s garden and the 5-foot tall I spuria, there is an iris
available to the home gardener. We will cover the cultivation of the most common iris species and dispel myths
about their growth. Join us for this introduction to growing iris, the Rainbow Flower.

Iris Design: Yes, You Can! 12:00 pm -1:00 pm

Floral design can be a challenge for anyone but when designing with our own garden plants, and particularly
irises, it can be overwhelming. We’ll explore the mechanics of floral design with an emphasis on designing with
irises for exhibition. Join us for a demonstration on building a floral arrangement and evaluating the design for
competition. This presentation is eligible for 1 hour of Judges’ Training certification from the American Iris Society.
